Breaking News?: U.S. Army and Marine Corps to Reduce Number of Troops on Active Duty, Gates Chirps

Ed Note: I call Bull Shite! They just print the money or just hit enter to create it. As if the Pentagram is hard hit for Federal Reserve notes. More engineered economic depression. Besides, as the weaponized surveillance drones increase in the arsenal, you only need a few camo teen kids indoctrinated on first-person shooter games to man the joysticks in these extrajudicial executions from the skies, out of cubicles of the security industrial complex.

Wholesale bankruptcy would be preferable, filing under Chapter 9/11...

Pentagon to cut spending by $78 billion, reduce troop strength
By Craig Whitlock | Washington Post Staff Writer

The Pentagon will have to cut spending by $78 billion over the next five years, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said Thursday, forcing the Army and Marine Corps to shrink the number of troops on active duty and eventually imposing the first freeze on military spending since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The surprise announcement from Gates was a reminder for the military establishment - which has benefited from a gusher of new money over the past decade - that it will not remain exempt from painful austerity measures that federal lawmakers say will be necessary to control the soaring national debt.

11 Reasons Why The Threat From Al-Qaeda is Not Real

The United States government has repeatedly stated that the treat from Al-Qaeda against America is very real, and that all action is being taken to eliminate that threat. Nobody in their right mind would question such a serious assessment about a sensitive national security matter from the world's leading democracy. But the truth is that over the past fifty years America's democratic institutions like the press have been weakened, and an elitist National Security State has risen, and taken control over all aspects of government.

Since World War II U.S. leaders have consistently lied to the American people about foreign threats in order to feed the military machine's appetite for war. All of these wars are unjust and unwarranted but that does not stop the self-interested criminals who control U.S. foreign policy. A recent example of a lie they told was their assertion that Saddam Hussein was in possession of weapons of mass destruction. That episode revealed to many people the true nature of the American government. Simply put, it does not care about the truth, or the American people, or the members of the military. U.S. leaders like former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and current Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, to name but a few, tell lies at will. Dishonesty means nothing to them. They deceive the American people, the American military, and the world about their motives and methods - and they lie to themselves about their own powers and abilities.

Next to the hundreds of thousands of innocent people who were slaughtered by the American war machine in its numerous criminal wars, U.S. soldiers have suffered the most - way more than the rest of the population in America. It can't be said enough that the U.S. government's treatment of its soldiers is scandalous and shameful. It is so out of whack that in America today dogs are treated better than military vets. Some dogs are even treated to luxurious spas while military vets are denied the proper health care that they deserve. Instead, they're left to rot, and commit suicide. And for what? To defend America? To defeat Al-Qaeda? Or to keep the war machine and its benefactors rich and powerful? As you will see by the end of this post, it is the latter.

LILA RAJIVA: The Micro-Guide to Spotting Propaganda

Listening to the frenzied accusations of  “disinformation”, “shill”, “stooge”, “cointelpro”, “propagandist” that activists and journalists are wont to hurl at each other, I decided to jot down some of the markers that set off my BS detector.

Obviously,  these are only very rough indicators and due diligence is also needed. But off the top of my head here are some things that will help you figure out whether  a writer is reliable or not.
1. Look at the writer’s track-record. With so much writing now on the web, it’s easy to research a writer and find out where they were standing on issues years ago. How does their performance stack up? You don’t need Nostradamus, but the conclusions of a  good writer/researcher will tend to be borne out most of the time.  If someone had told you in 2003 that  the Iraq war was going to be a cake-walk, had told you in 2006  to buy a bigger house for less money down,  and encouraged you to sell gold short in 2009, you might be forgiven if, in 2010, you’d come to suspect his intelligence or motives…or both.
2.  Look for details that you know about and see if the writer is accurate. If  she isn’t and there is no good reason, then be wary. What’s a good reason? Well, if a Scottish writer isn’t a Sinologist and doesn’t pretend to be one, a mistake about Chinese history can be put down to error. If he is a Sinologist, then he should know better.  If it is a one time mistake or a very minor one, put it down to sloppiness or human error. If it’s big and repeated, it’s not an error. It’s a sign of incompetence or disinformation.

Two-Fold Increase in Fort Hood Suicides

They would not listen, as the song goes, perhaps they never will. The Army does not seem to get the fact that the shootings at Fort Hood would do a lot more damage than had already been done to the troops for this simple reason, this was their safe place. I knew what was coming and warned about it in November.

Did it do any good to have predicted this would happen well over a year ago?

Aftermath of Fort Hood shootings may be worse
As the news reports kept coming out today about the carnage at Fort Hood, my greatest fears were not for today, but for the next few months ahead. No one is talking about “secondary stressors” and this needs to be addressed quickly.
There are crisis teams heading there according to the press briefing by Lt. Gen. Robert Cone. This is one of the best things they can do. I spent months taking this kind of training and it is very thorough. The issue that we need to be concerned about is when there are thousands of soldiers, combat soldiers with multiple tours, many of them are dealing with mild PTSD. Mild PTSD is not that hard to cope with. They live pretty normal lives while covering up the pain they have inside. Many even cope well the rest of their lives but many do not. Like a ticking time bomb, PTSD rests waiting to strike if untreated. It waits for the next traumatic event and then mild PTSD turns into PTSD on steroids.
These are the soldiers that will need the greatest help as soon as possible.
These bases are very well secured. That makes the soldiers and their families feel safe. Think about going into combat and then making it home alive where you are supposed to be safe. Then having this happen.

Fort Detrick's Biowarfare-ville "Suspiciously High?" Cancer Cases to be Studied

From the Files of the Painfully Obvious: Maryland public health officials say certain cancers appear to occur at younger ages among people living near Fort Detrick in Frederick than in people statewide.

AP

Ed. Note: Due to people dropping like flies in Frederick, MD, as the Gov says from some unknown in this Bioligical/Chemical Warfare Industry town, there are always job vacancies even during this engineered depression, a jobs program if you will...

Clifford Mitchell of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene said Monday that investigators will probe deeper into the discrepancies involving liver, bone and endocrine cancers.
The most marked difference involves liver cancer. The median diagnosis age among people living near the Army installation from 2000 to 2007 was 55 versus 65 statewide.
Mitchell says researchers will examine the cases in greater detail and look at others as far back as 1992.
The investigation reflects concerns about Agent Orange testing and industrial chemical dumping at Fort Detrick decades ago.

Turkish Intel Chief Exposes CIA Operations via Islamic Group in Central Asia

“In the 1990s Gulen’s Madrasas sheltered 130 CIA agents” in Kyrgyzstan & Uzbekistan”

Yesterday Washington Post’s Jeff Stein published a very interesting but incompletestory regarding a recently published memoir by former Turkish Intelligence Chief Osman Nuri Gundes. Here is the title of his post: Islamic group is CIA front, ex-Turkish Intel chief says. For those of you familiar with my case and what I’ve been covering here at Boiling Frogs Post this exposé is ‘old news’ but nonetheless a vindication. As for those who are first-timers here or not that familiar with my case, this is an opportunity for a bit of background and to learn a few important points and facts that you won’t be getting from this ‘half-picture’ presented by the Washington Post.
In his memoir Gundes claims that Fethullah Gulen’s worldwide Islamic movement based in Pennsylvania has been providing cover for the CIA since the mid-1990s, and that in the 90s, the movement “sheltered 130 CIA agents” at its schools in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan alone.
Now, as I’ve done before, I am going to praise Jeff Stein, whom I know and like, for his solid journalistic talent and background and give him a few credits for actually covering this story (it is one of those ‘thou shall not cover’ areas in an agreement between the US mainstream media and the US government), before I bash the piece, its half-a.. coverage, incomplete background, and it’s incredibly lenient treatment of a shady-dubious-charlatan, a major player in this operation yet a major denier when confronted by Stein; Graham Fuller. Again, as before, I am going to blame it on the unfortunate situation of ‘having to sell your journalistic soul to earn your living.’
Let’s start with Gulen. The only background provided on Gulen is the following with only one link which takes you to Gulen’s marketing site:
